Many people across Oakleigh and surrounding suburbs begin exploring chiropractic care when recurring muscle tightness, fatigue, or nerve-related symptoms start interfering with daily life. At North Road Chiropractic, where we have been caring for patients since 1987, one of the most valuable assessment tools we use is Computerized Electromyography (EMG).
EMG scanning measures the electrical activity of spinal muscles. When nerves are irritated or under stress, the muscles they supply often become overactive or fatigued — sometimes well before pain is felt. EMG allows us to identify these patterns objectively, rather than relying on symptoms alone.

While postural spinal X-rays show the structure and alignment of the spine, EMG reveals how well the muscles and nervous system are functioning. Together, these tools provide a clear picture of both structure and function, allowing chiropractic care to be precise and targeted rather than based on guesswork.
Many patients appreciate seeing their EMG results visually, as it helps explain why discomfort may keep returning or why certain areas feel constantly tense. This information helps us select the most appropriate manual, low-force, or high-specificity chiropractic techniques for each individual.

Some patients choose chiropractic care primarily for symptom relief, while others use EMG findings to guide longer-term spinal and nervous system support. Our role is to explain what we find and offer professional recommendations — you decide how far you wish to take your care.
